Top 20 Magazines in India by readership
Based on IRS 2019 Q4 data released by by Media Research Users Council India (MRUC India) in May 2020, lets have look at the Top 20 Magazines in India
The Top 5 Magazines
According to the total readership on the basis of one month recall for magazines released by MRUC in Indian Readership Survey for 2019, India Today English continued to be the largest read magazine across languages in the country. India Today (English) has recorded readership of 94.93 lakh. India Today Hindi continues to be on the second spot with a readership of 66.41 lakhs.
Samanya Gyan Darpan a general knowledge magazine is at third number with a readership of 58.94 Lakhs. Vanitha (Malayalam) is at no. 4 with a total readership of 58.86 lakhs. Pratiyogita Darpan (Hindi) has made it to the fifth spot with a readership of 51.84 lakhs.
No. 6 to 10th Magazines
The Sportstar the English sports magazine has reported 38.50 lakh readers & is in sixth place. Meri Saheli a Hindi magazine for women is at number seven with a readership of 38 Lakhs. General Knowledge Today (37.26 lakhs), Bal Bhaskar (36.17 Lakhs) & Diamond Cricket Today ( Sports magazine in English) with a readership of 35.90 lakhs stood at 8th, 9th & 10th position.
No. 11 to 15th Magazines
Leading the pack in regional was Tamil magazine Ananda Vikatan with 34.38 lakh readers stood at 11th position. It was followed by Hindi magazine Champak at 33.65 lakh readers in the 12th position. Filmfare the film magazine in English with 30.58 lakh readers is in the 13th position. Grih Sobha, Hindi magazine for women stands at 14th position with a readership of 30.37 lakhs. It was followed by Malayalam comic magazine Balarama at 28.19 lakh readers in 15th position.
No. 16th to 20th Magazines
Diamond Cricket Today (Hindi Edition) with a readership of 27.54 lakhs is at 16th position. Jagran Sakhi women magazine in Hindi is at 17th position with a readership of 27.38 lakh. Tamil weekly Kumudam stands at 18th position with a readership of 26.99 lakhs. Sarita another Hindi women magazine with a readership of 25.46 is at 19th spot. At Number 20 we have Mathrubhumi Arogya Masika with a readership of 24.96 lakhs.
The survey indicates that 8 percent of the respondents read a magazine in the last one month in urban India. In rural India, the figure stands at 3 percent
